As a national communications infrastructure engineering and specialty contractor, TrueNet offers a broad portfolio of services to its customers, but it’s an unusual project where virtually all the services we provide are required.
TrueNet has provided CATV Broadband Engineering and Design Services to Comcast Cable since 1999. In 2013, the Comcast Central Region, which stretches from Chicago to southern tip of Florida, issued an RFP to select a single broadband engineering and design contractor for each of the markets that comprise the Central Region. After a competitive bid process, TrueNet was selected to provide all OSP Engineering and Design Services for all the Florida Markets.
Scope of Work
Comcast’s Florida footprint stretches from coast to coast and from the Keys to the Panhandle. TrueNet has responsibility for all CATV plant engineering functions within that massive footprint including a wide array of fiber and HFC design and engineering services, technical services, professional services, and network planning. Even though Comcast is migrating to spatialNET as their design standard, TrueNet has to be technically proficient in all of Comcast’s legacy design and drafting tools including Lode Data, Bentley, and AutoCAD.
The move to TrueNet as Comcast’s single resource for Broadband Engineering Services was incredibly smooth given the large geographic footprint that was required to be served. Locally based TrueNet Field Engineers perform all BAU and project field surveys, Project/Construction Management and QA/QC functions while engineering, design, drafting and records posting and updating is handled in our Tampa, Jacksonville and Lawrenceville, GA design centers. The Florida Markets lead the Comcast system in the number of FTTP served. TrueNet has been instrumental in that stellar achievement and in 2016, TrueNet will also pick up all WiFi site surveys, design and PM activity.
