When a major new entrant into the local broadband service provider space needed help with their FTTP design and build-out, they looked to TrueNet Communications to ensure that the advanced fiber network design and construction met the new entrant’s exacting standards. Its not surprising that the Internet search giant, who some industry pundits claim is behind the plethora of service providers announcing their intention to launch 1 Gbps fiber to the home (FTTH) service, turned to one of the recognized leaders in fiber design and construction as their QA/QC services partner.
Scope of Work
While the exact scope of the services cannot be disclosed, TrueNet is responsible for virtually all QA/QC on the project. This includes all network design, make ready engineering, permitting, pre-construction and construction activity including crew staffing, retention and safety procedures.
All TrueNet QA/QC field engineers are equipped with Samsung Galaxy Tab S’ with LTE cellular connectivity. The field engineers utilize the tablets to capture and input data into a custom cloud based form and once the information is submitted, it can be viewed immediately by both the client and our office based project team members. The custom project forms were created in close collaboration between the client and TrueNet and field tested prior to the start of the project. FE’s utilize the on-line forms to complete function and asset (poles, vaults, cabinets, huts, remotes) specific QA checklists, capture supporting digital pictures, provide field notes and annotations and document safety issues and concerns. Field engineers can also search and navigate to any point in the form or database to speed up the field engineering process.
